Position: Deputy Director

Location:

Though the Deputy Director will be placed in the ANANDI Coordination Office at Ahmedabad, she will have to travel 12-15 days a month.  She will work closely with the Executive Director and the Program Committee of ANANDI.

Area Networking and Development Initiatives – ANANDI registered in 1995 works with rural women and girls of tribal, dalit, DNT and other marginalized communities’ towards mobilizing their collectives for social justice, sustainable development, accountable governance and empowerment of rural women.  ANANDI’s vision is to bring rural women’s concerns at the centre of all development processes so that all can live in a just, equitable and peaceful society. In order to   provide further impetus to our work, ANANDI wishes to recruit a Deputy Director at its Ahmedabad office.  The prospective candidate should be a woman with strong grounding in the values and principles of transformative feminist action and leadership.  

The Deputy Director will play a strategic role in leading and managing the programs of the organization. (See www.anandi-india.org for a description of our core programs). She will work at the community level for building strong grassroots leadership and at the national level for programming, influencing and advocacy.

The partnership between ANANDI and the Community Women Led Sangathans in the areas aim to build women and youth leadership to strengthen their collectives to protect and promote women’s human rights.

ANANDI invites applications of motivated practitioners and young professionals willing to anchor overall programs of ANANDI to lead them to the mission and vision of the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning and Program Implementation: Adopt and align the strategic plan of ANANDI built collectively by the team for the period 2022 -25. The plans will have to be reviewed periodically with the senior teams to build and promote communities of practice with feminist understanding around key thematic areas.
  2. Fund Raising: Raising resources to meet the planned program commitments of the organization.
  3. Institutional responsibilities: Ensuring adequate systems and processes for streamlined functioning of programs and routine administration of the organization.
  4. Capacity Building: Develop systems for human resource development balancing individual aspirations of the team members and organizational vision with transparency and accountability.
  5. Strengthen the Partnership between ANANDI and Sangathans: Nurture young and women leaders, enable partnerships with Sangathan and community led organizations and other likeminded stakeholders to realize the vision and mission of the ANANDI effectively.
  6. Knowledge Building and Communications: Ensure that ANANDI develops effective communication strategies both internal and external such that it contributes to knowledge building.
  7. Compliance Functions: Ensure that the organization meets all its legal and regulatory obligations and assist the Executive Director in all administrative, HR and program monitoring functions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience of organizational leadership and management preferred.
  • Experience of working in a leadership role with rural youth and women’s collectives, self-help groups and women’s empowerment programs, experience of management of projects /programs and teams, experience of using program management software including designing tracking and monitoring mechanisms and MS Office.
  • Master’s degree in development studies, social work, gender studies, law and other related disciplines.
  • Experience of donor engagement, research, documentation and M&E, building strategic partnerships.

Position: Project Coordinator, Gender Justice

Role Description:

The Project Coordinator role in ANANDI is envisaged as one of building feminist praxis within each program. Embedded in an empowerment and rights-based framework, the Project Coordinator is expected to design strategies and ensure implementation within the program that is contextualized in both global and local realities. They are also expected to represent the organisation and the program at different platforms, lead evidence-building for networking and advocacy, and raise resources as and when necessary.

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Drive the Lok Adhikaar Karyakram (LAK – Gender Justice Program) in ANANDI at the block-level with a focus on women’s human rights and prevention of violence against women and girls in partnership with the Devgadh Mahila Sangathan

  • Map the training, skilling, and emotional needs of the program team and build spaces of learning, reflection and exposure for all members of the team, including sangathan leaders, working on rights and entitlements.
  • Develop, strengthen and review MIS systems for capturing qualitative and quantitative data and feed it back to the team through sharing-learning forums.
  • Assist the Program Manager in designing and sustaining program reporting and interface with individual donors.
  • Ensure the regular convening of programmatic and cross-program forums – cross-area program meetings, program manager forum, etc. – and ensure spaces of co-ownership in the spirit of collective leadership.
  • Travel and stay in the field for 10-12 days a month

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 2-4 years of work experience with rural / tribal communities as team leader.
  • Demonstrated skills in English.
  • Language proficiency in English and Gujarati is essential, knowledge of Hindi is preferred.
  • Knowledge in basic data management and Excel.

 

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Range Rs. 25000 – Rs. 30000/- per month.

  • Design, Plan and drive the Programme interventions of Strengthening Panchayat with other team members.
    1. Support and strengthen the gram panchayat institutions for self-governance and democratic functioning for gender just development.
    2. Conduct capacity building trainings for Yuva Sabha to bring women and youth concerns in village development plan.
    3. Design and deliver trainings for women and youth leaders from marginalised communities to ensure constitutional rights including gender equality, social justice, inclusive development, transparency and accountability for gender transformative actions.
  • Develop Programme SOPs, modules, IEC and other material to engage and Committee members, marginalized communities, Gram Panchayat members on developmental activities.
  • Plan and ensure implementation of field activities based on team activity calendar for monthly, quarterly basis to plan, implement and monitor the activities and the budget along with Sangathan Aagewan and the Community mobilizers and Trainers .
  • Create monthly reports and anchor learning session around the Panchayati Raj Act, the PESA, FRA as legal rights of tribal and other marginalised communities in monthly meetings collect learnings and analyse data and identify gaps in access to rights and justice.
  • Participate in building strategies for networking and advocacy for policy / implementation level change.
  • Develop a training calendar and conduct / organise trainings of team ANANDI team , Sangathan Aagewans and the Gram Sangathan Aagewans to increase their voice and agency in different for forums for rights as citizens and duty bearers.
  • Engage effectively with other relevant stakeholders to enable and empower the GP members, the EWR , the Samaiti members and Gram Sangathan women and youth leaders to participate in all plan, design, implementation and monitoring of the development programs from ward to the Gram Panchayat level.

  • Create dialogue with children, young people, families and other stakeholders in the community to build environment of learning and skill development, influence of education on over all development of girl children, youth.
  • Develop community report cards on status of Girls Education, Increase access of girls (coming from marginalized communities) to Education with Gram Sangathan and Gram Panchayats initiative leveraging Gram Sabha and GPDP. Analyse data and identify gaps in access to education and quality of education and participate in building strategies for networking and advocacy for policy / implementation level change.
  • Engage communities and GP members work towards improving facilities in schools to retain girl students with SMC’s initiative, quality of food, infrastructure and safety
  • Form and build capacities of the committees for prevention of sexual harassment at work place in school, the social justice committee for protection of rights and dignity and of the Mahila Sauraksha Samiti at the village level tot build a culture of inclusive and safe space for girl students
  • Develop Programme SOPs, modules, IEC and other material to engage and educate School management Committee members, marginalized communities, Gram Panchayat members on Quality and access to Primary and secondary Education focussing on girl children.
  • Plan and ensure implementation of field activities. Create monthly work plans with the required budget, with the Sangathan Leaders and Community mobilizers and Trainers .
  • Create monthly reports and anchor Education session in monthly meetings with the entire team.
  • Capacity building – Develop a training calendar and conduct / organise trainings of team ANANDI staff, Sangathan aagewans and Gram Sangathan Aagewans to Implement the Project and deliver its activities assuring the highest quality.
  • Engage effectively with other relevant stakeholders, like School teachers, SMC members, Parents of children enrolled in school from marginalised communities, Panchayat members, Block officials, Volunteers etc. stakeholders relevant to the Programme.
  • Develop, strengthen and review MIS systems for capturing qualitative and quantitative data and feed it back to the team through sharing-learning forums.
  • Travel and stay in the field for 10-12 days a month

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the program team in Devgadh Baria block for strengthening local democracy- Panchayats and women led community collectives for gender just development, in line with ANANDI’s strategic plan.
  • Develop and monitor a participatory results-based monitoring and evaluation plan to deliver the outcomes of program focusing on building strong inter-generational dialogue at the village level among women and young girls as part of Gram Sangathan – collectives of marginalised communities.
  • Enabling young girls and adolescents to have space / collectives of their own for building their own space.
  • Ensuring effective participation of women and youth in village development planning & local governance bodies for increasing access to rights and entitlements, improving health and education outcomes and creating an enabling environment for safety and security of women and girls.
  • As part of the Program Lead team with the Practice Lead build learning environment in the team with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities & skills towards accomplishing program goals.
  • Assess risks and opportunities in the environment to strategically manage changes and design interventions towards realising organisations strategic plans.
  • Develop, strengthen and review MIS systems for capturing qualitative and quantitative data, give and receive feedback on programs periodically through sharing-learning forums.
  • Plan, review and monitor the budgets for the program with the finance manager every month to ensure that funds are used judiciously for delivering the outcomes.
  • Documentation, regular reporting to the donors & ANANDI internal program review planning committees, reports for social media, website & timely reports for the ANANDI governing board under the guidance of the executive director.
  • Engaging with the stakeholders at block, district and state level to increase efficacy of the program outcomes and drive systemic change.
  • Develop proposals with the team and Sangathan to sustain the social transformation process and support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Represent ANANDI in forums as assigned from time to time.
  • Travel in the field for 10-12 days a month

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5-7 years of work experience with rural / tribal communities as team leader
  • Documentation skills in English
  • Language proficiency in English and Gujarati essential, knowledge of Hindi is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic data management and Excel

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Range Rs. 45000 – Rs. 55000/- per month.
