Fifty-five year old Sagudiben Ramanbhai Nayak of Kaliyakuva village is fighting for her 10 acre farm forest land. Till 2008, she and her family were engaged in farming in the above said land. But in 2008 the Forest Department destroyed her yield of Corn and Tuver. To avail the rights prescribed in the Forest Rights Act, Sagudiben has fought a lot and participated in the post-card campaign and has reached to the Chief Minister and the Prime Minister with her plea. She has actively participated in the rallies and campaigns organized by Devgadh Mahila Sangathan to help people reclaim their lands. In her village over 19 people had filed claim and from which nine cases have gone for reappeal as their claims were dismissed earlier inspite of having all proof and documents of ownership. Like Sagudiben, many have been dependent on forests all their lives.
